The eagle has landed…

It’s been nearly 2 weeks since the last update, mainly becuse we’ve been so busy moving and settling in that I haven’t had time/energy to take pictures and update the site with all that going on.

I’m only updating now to avoid going outside and picking up more rocks 😉

Let’s go back in time a few weeks, on about the 10th of May the house was nearly completed, all the electricity was connected and we went out at night to see it all lit up (it looks most impressive at night). Here are the results:

We moved in the weekend before last, moved most of the stuff in the ute and crummydore over Saturday and Sunday and used a rented 3 Tonne truck (and a very handy hand trolly) to move the heavy/big stuff the following monday.

Moving Day!

We also bit the proverbial bullet and decided to get the slightly more expensive carpet, just so we could have it the day we moved in, it’s a nicer carpet anyway so it’s worked out well, and it wasn’t a whole lot more, the carpet man gave us a good deal.

More moving day, it’s not as messy as this now, pretty much everything is unpacked and put away, now we have to start on the outside, gardening, landscaping, blah!

Messy Kitchen!

Messy Garden!

I’ll post another update with some shots of the media room and other stuff in the next couple of days, so come back real soon!

Moving in!

Sorry about the lack of updates, we’ve been really busy with everything. We’ll be moving the bed and a few essentials into the house this afternoon for our first night there. And the rest of the stuff will be going over the weekend, the heavy things are going in a rental truck on Monday, then we’ll be all done. Yay! Pictures and stuff some time next week.

The site will be down for a few days while we move.

So much drama, it’s like Days of Our lives…

….without all the brain transplants!

The kitchen bench drama is almost over, we met with the kitchen place and the stonemasons today, they are going to repolish the benchtops and re-do the edges, if we’re not happy with it after that’s done, it’s going back! (and we’ll just buy some particle board, that’ll do!)

In other drama, the wrong downlight fittings arrived, but we decided we liked the new ones enough to make it not worth pulling them all out and starting again. The media room is still without light fittings, after being given the wrong ones 4 times in a row (and having the right ones re-ordered, hopefully they can be 5th time lucky)..what is it about “satin chrome” that’s so confusing to people..the door handles are right, there needs to be some kind of industry standard!!!
Electrical fitout is almost completely done, the poo-to-water machine is hooked up (but not accepting poo yet), all the tiles are done, not grouted yet. Most plumbling is done, we’re still on schedule for next wednesday (the 14th of May).
Did I mention we’re going to be without carpet for 2 weeks unless the bank decides to give us more money? Still waiting on that result, news as it happens!
The pictures and stuff….

Door handles! For opening the door, and closing it, and stuff…they’re SATIN CHROME.

Rangehood and slashback, this is STAINLESS STEEL, notice the difference between SATIN CHROME and STAINLESS STEEL, it’s really not that hard, is it?

The stove, dual fuel, say that 6 times really fast after you’ve had 14 beers. (dual fuel means it uses gas and electric, it’s hip and trendy, or something)

U.F.O.’s were spotted over Royalla in the early morning light, a few decided that the ceiling was a good place to land, so we stuck a light bulb inside and called them light fittings for bedroom 3 and 2, toilets and the walk in spare room (i.e. wardrobe)

Toilet, this is where the poop goes in, otherwise known as “poop-to-water machine fuel”, use it liberally so the PTW machine can serve its purpose in the grand scheme of things.

Install a Rheam, or something, this massive obelisk emerged from the ground, so they wired it up and put some pipes into it, now hot water comes out, amazing!!

This may not seem significant to you CITY FOLK, but there’s WATER COMING OUT OF THAT TAP!!!!

Ho hum, cheap shower screens, we had to compromise on some things, this was one…they’re OK, but we would have prefered the frameless variety, one day gadget, one day!!

Lack of Updates

Been busy sorting out small things, paint, kitchen benchs, money…the camera is full of pictures I haven’t downloaded yet…

A week and a half to go, painting is 99% done (some small touch ups to go), all the power points and light switches are done (pictures later), we’re waiting on light fittings to arrive since the ones we had on order originally were sold from under us! The lighting place has also now sent us the wrong downlights for the media room 3 times!

The kitchen bench saga continues, we’re not 100% happy with them at all (about 85% I think), they need a polish, some of the edges need some additional smoothing, and we need an explaination from the supplier why it’s scratching so easy!

If Kristie and I can get through the next week and a half without killing each other, I’ll be surprised!
